Harrison’s Happy Hour
Harrison’s Happy Hour is a collection of progressively challenging timed minigames that could be played by clicking the mouse.
In this jam I wanted to demonstrate my own adaptation of the microgame format by having recognisable, interesting and robust minigames which are simple to play. I learned to showcase a specific aesthetic by only using stock images, degrading the quality and editing them when they are interacted to improve the feel interaction and present the game in a unique but familiar way like the DS WarioWare games. Moreover I also curated sounds which fitted the theme as well as developing my own in order to sell the vision of the game and showcase it’s own identity.
I learned how to succinctly code a system which selected a random minigame with increasing difficulty at certain intervals. This game is where I found my particular skill at producing my own interpretation of a concept which used my own personality and sense of game design to create a clear and strong identity.
