Rogue Mind
RogueMind is a rogue-like that takes place in the mind of office worker, Tom. The world is ruled by the dystopian ‘Anti Procrastination Agency’ (A.P.A) who prescribe the workforce pills to make them work mindlessly. One day, the secret organisation the ‘Anti Anti Procrastination Agency’ swaps Tom’s pills for an antidote, washing away his toxins, sending him on distorted psychedelic mind dungeon adventure.
During this unit, I assumed the role of team leader and head of design and art for our project. The concept for the game was mine, and I took responsibility for determining its content, and defining how each mechanic should operate through meticulous planning and effective communication with the programmers as well as doing my own gameplay balance and testing. My leadership abilities came into play as I guided the team and established an organized workflow using Jira to manage deliverables and backlog professionally on a weekly basis via sprints.
I facilitated regular meetings to discuss daily tasks and address any pending amendments or decisions. My primary focus was on creating assets, and I made a deliberate choice to differentiate RogueMind from other games by infusing it with psychedelic/uncanny aesthetics. To achieve this, I honed my art and hand animation skills in Photoshop, resulting in a unique visual style.
